Particles of light are called photons. In 1905, Einstein used the quantum theory developed by Max Planck to explain the photoelectric effect of light. As a result, he considered light to be a bunch of particles. Einstein used the phrase ‘quanta of light’ to describe particles of light. About two decades later, it was named photon. In 1926, physicist Frithiof Wolfers and chemist Gilbert Lewis gave this name. Later, the name became popular. Other scientists began to use the word photon to describe particles of light.
In the language of physics, photons are fundamental particles. That is, they are not made up of any other small particles. They cannot be broken down into any smaller units. The smallest unit of light is the photon particle. Photons are made up of energy. They are electromagnetic waves that carry particles of light. They have no fixed mass. They have no charge. But they have momentum.
